You can generate reports in harness drawings to list details about materials.
Circuit Summary. All wires and cables in the route assembly, with corresponding connection information.
Harness Bill of Materials. All materials used in the route assembly.
Connector Pin-Wire Tables. A table for each connector with pin/cavity designations and the corresponding names of wires.
Reports can be updated automatically after new materials are added to the harness. To enable dynamic updates, click Routing, Electrical, Harness, Defaults and select Update Reports Automatically.
All reports are created as standard SolidWorks tables. After a report is created, you can update column header names, move columns or rows, and format the table.
The Column
Headers in Circuit Summary
and Harness Bill
of Materials reports must match property names on the corresponding
library objects. For example, if you use PN
as a Column Header, wires must
have a corresponding PN property
name. See Creating
a Harness Library.
You can generate each report individually, or all reports at once.
To generate all reports at once:
Click Add
All Reports
(Wiring toolbar).
The Circuit Summary, Harness Bill of Materials, and Connector Pin-Wire tables for each connector are generated.
To generate a Circuit Summary report:
Click Routing, Electrical, Harness, Reports.
In the PropertyManager, select Circuit Summary, then, under Sheet, enter the sheet name on which you want the report to appear.
The default sheet name is Harnessboard, the sheet on which the flattened drawing bundles are created. If you enter a sheet name that does not exist, a new sheet is created with that name.
Enter the names of the Column headers separated by commas (,).
Click
to create the report.
The report appears in the lower left corner of the drawing. You can drag it to a new position.
To generate a Harness Bill of Materials report:
Click Routing, Electrical, Harness, Reports.
In the PropertyManager, select Harness Bill of Materials, then, under Sheet, enter the sheet name on which you want the report to appear.
The default sheet name is Harnessboard, the sheet on which the flattened drawing bundles are created. If you enter a sheet name that does not exist, a new sheet is created with that name.
Enter the names of the Column headers separated by commas (,).
Under Display, select optional items to appear in the table, such as Covering, Terminals, etc. Wires and parts (connectors) always appear in the table.
Click
to create the report.
The report appears in the lower left corner of the drawing. You can drag it to a new position.
If you select Insert
type headers under Harness Bill
of Materials, the Harness Bill of Materials is created with separate
rows labeled for each type of harness material, such as Wires,
Parts, Terminals,
Covering, and so on.
Requirements:
The connector part must have a library property named pins (not case-sensitive) that contains a comma-separated list of its pin/cavity names (for example, 1,2,3,4,5,6). See Creating a Harness Library.
The from-to list imported into the 3D route assembly must contain connector pin information. See From-To List.
To generate Connector Pin-Wire tables:
Click Edit Parts
(Wiring toolbar) or Routing,
Electrical, Harness,
Edit, Parts.
In the PropertyManager, select a connector name from the list.
Click Insert Part Table.
A table appears in the graphics area next to the connector. The table contains a list of pin/cavity names and the corresponding wires connected to the pins/cavities. You can drag the table. If you move the endpoint of the wire, the table moves with it.
Repeat steps 2 and 3 for other connector names.
Click
to close the PropertyManager.
