Elbow Parts

Some sample elbow parts are supplied with the software. You can create your own elbow parts by editing the sample part file or creating your own part file. See Routing Options for the location of sample parts and for recommendations on where to store new parts you create.

If you select Always use elbow in the Route Properties PropertyManager when you start a route, the software inserts an elbow automatically wherever there is a fillet in the 3D sketch. You can also add elbows manually.

An elbow part can contain configurations for many different types and sizes of elbow, including different bend angles and radii.

To create a simple elbow part:

  1. Create a part that meets the geometry requirements for an elbow.

  2. Create a connection point at each end where the pipe exits the elbow.

  3. Insert a design table to create the configurations. In the header row, include these parameters:

    1. BendRadius@ElbowArc
      BendAngle@ElbowArc
      Diameter@CPoint1
      Diameter@CPoint2
      Specification@CPoint1
      (recommended)
      Specification@CPoint2
      (recommended)

You can include additional dimensions (outside diameter, shell thickness) and properties (part number, cost, weight per unit of length) as needed.

  4. Save the part in  the Library folder (or one of its sub-folders) specified under Tools, Options, System Options, Routing.
