By default, components that you add to an assembly are displayed using the color specified in the original part document. This is true for all shaded and wireframe display modes. You can override the part color for selected instances, or use the default color for the assembly. You can also modify optical properties such as Transparency and Shininess.
To change the color and optical properties of selected component instances:
Do one of the following:
In
the Display
Pane, click in the Color
column for the component and select Color.
Make selections in the Color and Optics PropertyManager.
Click

Select a component in the FeatureManager design tree or in the graphics area. To select multiple components, hold Ctrl as you select.
Click Edit
Color
(Standard toolbar).
Make selections in the Color and Optics PropertyManager.
Click

Right-click a component and select Component Properties.
Click Color.
To apply a new color, click Change Color, choose a color from the palette, and click OK.
To use the default color for the assembly document, click Use Assembly.
To restore the component to the original color specified in the part document, click Remove Color.
Click Advanced to set other properties for the selected component, such as Transparency and Shininess.
Click OK twice.
The color of the selected instances changes in the assembly, but not in the original part document.
To change the color of a component and its original part document:
Right-click a component and select Edit Part.
Click Options
(Standard toolbar)
or Tools, Options.
On the Document Properties tab, click Colors.
Select Shading in Model\Feature colors, and click Edit.
Select a new color, click OK to close the Color dialog box, and OK again to close the Options dialog box.
To return to editing the assembly, right-click the assembly icon at the top of the FeatureManager design tree, and select Edit Assembly.
To toggle the wireframe display color of components:
Click View, Display, Use Component Color in HLR/HLV.
When this menu item is selected, assembly components appear in the wireframe/HLR color of the component.
When this menu item is cleared, assembly components appear in the wireframe/HLR color of the assembly.
