Creating a Camera Sled

To create a camera sled:

  1. Create a dummy component to act as the camera sled.

The size of the camera sled is irrelevant, since it is hidden during the animation sequence.

  1. Open an assembly and insert the camera sled (dummy component) into the assembly.

  1. Position the camera sled far enough away from the model to accommodate for the position of the components if you intend to show a path through an exploded assembly.

  1. Add a Parallel mate between the:

Mates center the camera sled relative to the model, but do not restrict the its movements.

  1. Use the Front view to approximately center the camera sled relative to the model.

This facilitates attaching the camera and creating the animation path

  1. Save the assembly.

  2. Add a camera to the camera sled and position it.
