To display buckling modes

In order to use the Buckling Modes Tool you must have first performed an analysis type which results in the calculation of these.

1. When you choose the Buckling Modes Tool the Data Bar will reconfigure to allow you to specify the results in which you are particularly interested.

2. Choose the mode shape you want to see by picking it from the Choose a load case list in the Views and Grids toolbar. Alternatively enter a Mode Shape number in the Data Bar to view a single mode shape or tick the All box in the Data Bar to display all mode shapes superimposed over each other.

Note: You can click the View Next icon () or View Previous icon ( ) in the Views and Grids toolbar button to select the next / previous mode shape respectively in the list.

3. Select the section size in which you are interested from the list in the Data Bar or choose All Sections to display the mode shape of all the sections.

4. Select the type of element in which you are interested from the list in the Data Bar or choose All Types to display the mode shapes of all of the types.

5. Once your settings are correct click Accept Data ( ) to display the appropriate mode shape.

6. If you want to see the details for a particular node, then double click that node or right click it and then choose Properties from the context menu that appears.

To animate the buckling mode shapes

1. Click View / Animate and S-Frame will show the animation as soon as it has created all the animation frames.

Note: To stop the animation, click View / Animate again to remove the tick against Animate.
