Click Shade to shade the surfaces you selected. If you do not select any surfaces, all the surfaces are shaded. The color of the shaded surfaces is set with the Options command.

To return to the wireframe design, first press the ESC key. Then click the Repaint button.

image\DisplayShadeMenu_shg.gif Undercut

Use Undercut to show in a different color the areas on your surfaces where standard tooling cannot cut from the top side. By top side we mean the direction of the Z axis of the local coordinates (as indicated by the CView coordinate marker).

In the illustration, the Over Color is green and the Under Color is red. Use the Shade Options dialog box to change the colors.

Undercut acts as described above only when all the surfaces face the same side, as indicated by the surface arrows. To see all surface arrows, click Edit > Surfaces > Arrow > Visible.

If some of the surface arrows point to opposite sides, Undercut shows which surfaces face the opposite direction. Use this for cutting operations that depend on the surface arrow direction, such as NC > 3 Axis > Cut.

Click Options to adjust the characteristics of the shaded surfaces. The Shade Options dialog box appears.
