Select filtering is set to points.

Define projection vector, then select a point is displayed in the status bar until you select a point. The selected point is added to the selected entity set.

Select filtering is set to surfaces

Select surface is displayed in the status bar until you select a surface. The selected surface is added to the selected entity set.

When the selected entity set contains one point and one surface the point is projected along the projection vector to the selected surface. If the projection vector intersects the surface a new point is created on the surface at the intersection point. The new point is highlighted.
