Select filtering is set to points

Select point is displayed in the status bar until you select a point/end/corner. The selected point is added to the selected entity set.

Select filtering is set to curves/surfaces

Select curve or surface is displayed in the status bar until you select a curve or a surface. The selected curve or surface is added to the selected entity set.

When the selected entity set contains one point and one curve or surface, a point is created on the curve/surface at the point where the curve/surface normal intersects the original point. The new point is highlighted.
