Select filtering is set to curves/edges.

Define location and then select curve is displayed in the status bar until you select a curve/edge. The selected curve/edge is added to the selected entity set.

When the selected entity set contains a single curve/edge create a new point or points at the defined parametric location along each curve. When the new point is created it is highlighted.
