Description

GM - Vehicle Model Assembler (VMA) is a tool that enables CAE analysts to assemble a full vehicle model. Model ID management and a connection rendering tool are provided to facilitate the assembly of a trimmed vehicle model. This model can then be prepared with appropriate loads and boundary conditions to conduct N&V, Crash, and Structures analysis. Provisions are available to create multiple states of the model for analyzing various environmental and operating conditions.

Procedure

To open the Vehicle Model Assembler :

1.Open MSC.Sofy in Nastran or LS-Dyna environment.

2. Go to >Modules Menu. Click >VMA2.This will open a VMA window on the left side of the screen.

3. Open an existing assembly (VMA-File -> Open) or begin to create a new assembly. (VMA-File ->New) The Vehicle Model Assembly Manager window displays an assembly in a heirarchical tree structure. The levels and branches of the assembly are completely determined by the user, although templates may be created for standardization among CAE groups. The assembly tree shows datasets assigned to each level and connections, where applicable. Use the assembly context menu to build the assembly tree (see menus, below)

4. Visibility of any assembly in the tree can be controlled using the check boxes to the left of each assembly name. Un-check the box to turn off all Parts and Connection Groups associated with an assembly.

This has the effect of temporarily removing the entities from the display, but does not remove them from the current database. As seen in the Collection block, it is the same as turning off entites using Collection Block.

5. The VMA assembly tree can be expanded by clicking + next to each assembly name. Likewise it can be collapsed by clicking minus (-) by each name.
