Contact Force Algorithms

Contact forces use two distinct normal force algorithms:

•

Restitution-based contact

•

IMPACT-function-based contact

Note:

Contact defined between planar geometry (for example, circle to curve) must be constrained to lie in the same plane. You usually accomplish this using planar joints or an equivalent set of constraints that enforce the planarity.

Failure to enforce planarity will result in a run-time error when the bodies go out of plane during a simulation.

You can also create your own contact force model by entering parameters to a user-defined subroutine.
