Surface >> Tool >> Match
Surface >> Tool >> Match command matches selected surfaces so that their boundary regions coincide or tangent to each other.
Guarantees G1 or C1 continuity between surfaces.
Step
- Execute Surface >> Tool >> Match command as follows:
- 1. Select Surface >> Tool >> Match from the menu or click the corresponding icon from the Surface2 toolbar.
- 2. Drag mouse to select surfaces to match with the left mouse button holding down. after selection, click Done on RMB menu
- Generally, RapidFrom moves all of selected surface for matching. but using Select Fixed Surfaces option, User can assign surface to be fixed.
- In the process, RpaidForm does not moves fixed surfaces.
- After selection, Moved surface is highlighted with violet, and fixed with transparent violet.
- 3. A dialog box appears for the matching options.

- Surface >> Tool >> Match is executed if the distance between the selected surfaces is smaller than Matching Tolerance.
- Select Position in Continuity section to match the surfaces with positional continuity guaranteed.
- Select Tangency(G1) in Continuity section to match the surfaces with G1 continuity guaranteed.
- Select Tangency(C1) in Continuity section to match the surfaces with C1 continuity guaranteed.
- 4 Press OK to complete this operation.
Result
With Tangency(G1) option, the direction of the tangent vectors on the boundaries of surfaces becomes same. With Tangency(C1) option, the direction and size of the tangent vectors on the boundaries of surfaces become same.
If the number of iso-line in both sides of the surface boundary is same, C1 continuity is guaranteed, and if not, G1 continuity is guaranteed.
In the matching process, the first picked surface moves to another one.
In case that the distance between the surfaces is larger than Matching Tolerance, Surface >> Tool >> Match is not executed and "Command canceled" is displayed in the job sequence window.
