Build >> Thin Points

• Build >> Thin Points command thins a selected point set. This operation fits points to a line.

• For example, through this operation you can get a point arrangement along to the medial axis direction of a point set of the cylindrical shape.

• This operation can be also applied to a polygonal shell.

Step   

Execute Build >> Thin Points command as follows:

1. Select Build >> Thin Points from the menu or click the corresponding icon from the Build toolbar.

2. Select a point cloud.

3. The following pop-up menu appears.

  

Enter a distance used for points to fit to a line in the Search Radius for Near Vertices field. For example, in case of a cylindrical shape, enter a value bigger than its diameter.

4. Click OK to thin the point cloud, or click Cancel to exit this operation without making changes.
