Build >> Merge >> Point Clouds
Build >> Merge >> Point Clouds command combines selected shells and merges them into a point set.
During the merging process, overlapped regions on shells are removed effectively.
Step
- Execute Build >> Merge >> Point Clouds command as follows:
- 1. Select Build >> Merge >> Point Clouds from the menu or click the corresponding icon from the Build toolbar.
- 2. Select more than two shells to be merged simultaneously. ( See Shell selection )
The color of the selected shell's bounding box changes to blue.- 3. If a user clicks the right mouse button while executing this command, the following pop-up menu appears.
- Select Pause to temporarily stop the current command and change to input ready state. Then, a user can use virtual trackball. A check mark appears in the front of Pause command in this state. Select Pause once more to resume the stopped command.
- 4. When a user selects more than two shells, Done command on the right mouse shortcut menu is enabled. Select it. Or select All from the pop-up menu to merge all the shells shown in the working window.
- 5. The following pop-up menu should appear.
- Select Merge Shells to merge all the selected shells to a new point cloud while original shells are deleted.
- Select Copy & Merge Shells to merge all the selected shells to a new point cloud while original shells remain.
6. Click OK to accept the new merged point cloud, or click Cancel to exit this operation without making changes.
Result
In case polygonal shells are selected, the new merged object contains only points.

Note
If only one shell is displayed in the working window, this operation is stopped when you select All in the pop-up menu.
