Introduction

This manual provides describes the functionality and use of the Stock WizardŽ, Hole WizardŽ and Hole Manager features. The user is expected to have some familiarity with the Getting Started, Geometry Creation and Mill manuals before using this document. Additionally, some experience with one of the GibbsCAM solids packages is useful for understanding the full effectiveness of the Hole Manager. Despite this, much of the functionality of these features is quite easy to understand simply by using it or going over the introductory information in this document.

Wizards do not necessarily provide any new functions to the system but do offer a new and easier way of using existing features. The Stock Wizard is a quick and easy way to define and set up an existing stock condition. This includes stock that has already had simple machining operations performed on it. The Hole Wizard empowers users with the ability to specify hole processes for a set of hole types. The Hole Wizard is intended to provide users with a step-by-step guide through the hole creation process in four easy steps. The Hole Manager allows the user to define and control points, circles or hole features on a solid. Each point or feature can be defined as a particular type of hole. Used in conjunction with the Hole Wizard, the process of generating G-code for machining holes is quick and easy.

The information covering the Hole Wizard can get into much more detail. Thus the Hole Wizard material has been provided in four sections, starting with Hole Wizard Basics. Second is the Hole Wizard Data section that covers the interface and features in more in depth. A tutorial about Hole Wizard's use is the third section. Lastly is the Advanced Hole Wizard Use section that details how the Hole Wizard works. This last section is intended for advanced users.

The Hole Manager information at the end of this manual will discuss the various components, usage, interface and details of using the Hole Manager, Auto Feature Recognition (AFR) of holes in solids models, and group and feature lists.

The Hole Manager is expressly for use with part models that have a large number of holes to be machined in a part. It allows for grouping and defining similar holes to quickly define the features of these groups and use the Hole Wizard to create the operations and create the list of tools needed to create the holes.
