Prior to the "Java 2 Runtime Environment JRE" installation, you should check you have installed the full set of required patches for your target architecture. Follow your target architecture patch installation procedure before proceeding.
Most of the third part JRE vendors provide information on the Java Environment installation and integration, please follow their recommendations for an efficient system tuning.
For the UNIX architectures the user can choose between the use of the modeFRONTIERTM embedded JRE libraries or his already installed JRE/SDK virtual machines.
The switch between the user's system installed JRE/SDK libraries and the modeFRONTIERTM embedded JRE libraries can be done commenting out the following line in the modeFRONTIERTM startup script modeFRONTIER300/bin/frontier:
Before...
# Set JRE PATH
PATH=${FRONTIERHOME}/jre/bin:${PATH}
export PATH
...after
# Set JRE PATH
#PATH=${FRONTIERHOME}/jre/bin:${PATH}
#export PATH
The modeFRONTIERTM 3.0.0 IS COMPATIBLE with the previous version modeFRONTIERTM 2.5.1 only. All modeFRONTIERTM 2.5.1 existing projects can be loaded with the 3.0.0 version even if some of them can result incomplete. Remember to check the consistency of the old 2.5.1 projects after loading them. A special effort has to be taken with projects including the IF NODES, they are automatically converted to the new SWITCH NODES and during the translation the if expressions are erased.
A new and improved look and feel of the modeFRONTIERTM 3.0.0 has been introduced. Designed to enhance navigation between different panels, the new modeFRONTIERTM 3.0.0 makes it much easier to create and store the projects, in even fewer clicks!
With a new group of very comprehensible icons and different tabbed panel structure, creating and managing the projects becomes now much more user-friendly.
The modeFRONTIERTM 3.0.0 new features in the Work Flow include:
A new set of Work Flow nodes. Please refer to the modeFRONTIERTM User Manual for the complete reference of the new features.
Work Flow Subsystems can be used for a better Work Flow design.
Libraries of specific Work Flow models can be saved exporting the Work Flow Subsystems.
The Work Flow environment is totally configurable. The user can select the properties for the colors, the fonts and the graphic layout, apply them to different Work Flow Patterns and save them together with the project.
New directly integrated application like MatlabTM and ExcelTM have been introduced on selected platforms (WINDOWSTM).
The MULTI OBJECTIVE ROBUST DESIGN OPTIMIZATION (MORDO) module can be configured graphically using the Work Flow tools.
The Work Flow can be exported using different formats (jpg, png, rtf, html, svg, eps, spf, pdf).
The modeFRONTIERTM 3.0.0 new features in Design of Experiments include:
Montecarlo DOE algorithm has been improved with the implementation of specific random distributions.
Two new DOE algorithms have been introduced; D-optimal and Cross Validation DOE.
DOE designs can be generated, edited and viewed directly in the Design Space module. Better assessment of the DOE data can be achieved using charts and statistic reports.
All DOE algorithms have a "log" reporting all the meaningful messages.
The modeFRONTIERTM 3.0.0 new features in Schedulers Panel include:
A New MULTI OBJECTIVE SIMULATED ANNEALING (MOSA) algorithm has been introduced in the Advanced Schedulers group.
A New version of the MULTI OBJECTIVE GENETIC ALGORITHM (MOGA-II) has been introduced. It implements a smart elitism for multiobjective search.
The BFGS algorithm, in its original form, does not account for possible inequality constraints on design variables. On the contrary the new Bounded BFGS (B-BFGS) algorithm handles these bounds in a suitable way.
The modeFRONTIERTM 3.0.0 new features in the Run Panel include:
New Run Panel has been redesigned, improving the browsing capabilities in the Project logs.
The Run Project Chooser now includes the preferences for the MORDO setup.
The Run Project Chooser now includes the preferences for the multiple RSM setup.
The modeFRONTIERTM 3.0.0 new features in Assessment and Design Charts include:
The Design Space module has been completely changed, it is build around a common desktop which includes all the Assessment modules (DOE, MCDM, RSM, Design Charts, Statistic Charts, etc.).
All the Design Space Charts have been improved, they are fully customizable and saved in the project file.
The doe, the designs and the robust designs data can be viewed in separate tables.
The MCDM module has been integrated in the Design Space desktop. All the MCDM Utilities can be saved and displayed in separate charts.
The RSM module has been integrated in the Design Space desktop. Multiple RSM function can be manipulated and viewed.
The Design Space Log handles all the reports.
The Design Space internal frames (tables, charts, etc) can be exported using different formats (jpg, png, rtf, html, svg, eps pdf).
The modeFRONTIERTM 3.0.0 new features in Response Surfaces include:
Multiple RSM function can be associated to a single Output Variable.
RSM Functions can be displayed in the Design Space Desktop using the 2D/3D charts.
The modeFRONTIERTM 3.0.0 new features in MCDM include:
The MCDM module has been integrated in the Design Space Desktop.
The usability of the MCDM module has been improved with a new setup layout.
All the MCDM Utilities can be saved and displayed in the Design Space Desktop.
Two new MCDM algorithms have been introduced; Hurwicz and Savage used for the uncertain decision problems.
The modeFRONTIERTM 3.0.0 new features in Reporting Tool include:
Print Capability have been improved.
Starting from modeFRONTIERTM 3.0.0 a new Reporting Tool has been introduced.
The user can specify which modeFRONTIERTM 3.0.0 module to include in the report.
An Automatic Reporting Tool is available.
