Center to Selection Mode
In this mode the camera also orbits around the scene. The center of the orbit, in this mode, is a selected object. As the object moves, so does the camera's center of rotation. This mode is the best way of making sure that specific objects always remain in view.
To change to Center to Selection Mode:
- If the Camera View is active, click on the Camera Perspective Toggle to switch to Director's View.

- If any of the Orthogonal Views are active, click on the triangle next to the Select Views control and choose Director's View from the menu.

- Click on the triangle next to the Trackball and choose Center to Selection from the menu.
OR
- Double-click either the Trackball or one of the Camera controls. The Camera & 2D Projection dialog appears.
- Click the Center To Selection mode button at the top of the dialog.

- Click on the OK icon to close the dialog.
- In the scene, select the object to rotate the view around. If you don't select an object (or objects), then the Center to Selection mode will work like the Trackball Mode.

- Use the Trackball to move the camera around your scene. The Director's View will rotate around the selected object in a spherical orbit. If you move the selected object, the view will move with it.
You can select another object to change which object the view centers around.
The image below shows a sphere to give an example of where the camera will potentially rotate around the selected object:
