Importing Static Objects via DS Export
It's not always practical to import figures from DS using the Launch DS link in Bryce. To help with this, DS provides a specific export filter for Bryce that takes into account how Bryce reads reflection, bump, and transparency maps. In addition, DS will gather all the image maps together into folders in the same folder as the OBJ.
To import static objects from DS:
- Launch DS and load the figures, etc. you need for your scene.
- Once you have created your DS scene, choose File > Export from the menu.

- Make sure that Wavefront Object (*.obj) is selected, then enter a filename and click on Save to save the file to your computer.

- The Export dialog will come up. Choose Bryce from the pull-down menu and make sure that the same options as shown below are selected. You may find that other options fit your needs better, so change them as needed.

- Click on Accept and DS will export the mesh and save the maps to a folder in the same directory as you saved the mesh to. It will also convert the maps so that Bryce can correctly import the bump maps, transparency maps, etc.
- Exit DS.
- Open Bryce and choose File > Import Object from the menu. The File Open dialog will come up.
- Locate the mesh file and click on Open. Bryce will import the object.
- When the import is complete, your object(s) will be very tiny. This is because Bryce imports static objects at their actual size and not scaled to match Poser.

- To increase the size of the object(s), you can manually resize it by using the Scaling tool or by dragging on the object handles.
However, it is easier to resize using the 3D Transformation tool:
- Click on Edit to bring up the Edit Palette, then click on the triangle under the Scaling tool. Choose 3D Transformations from the menu.

- Enter a percentage in the Size fields, such as 800%, then click on the OK icon to accept the change.

- The object(s) will resize by the entered amount, but may be below or above the ground plane. Click on the triangle under the Align tool and choose Snap To Ground from the menu.

- The object(s) will snap up to the ground plane and your import is complete.
