Creating 16-bit Pictures
The instructions below use Photoshop as the paint program.
To create 16-bit images for import into the Terrain Editor:
- Open Photoshop and choose File > New from the menu. The New file dialog will come up.
- Enter a name, width, height, and resolution. Choose a color mode of Grayscale and select 16 bit from the pull-down menu. If your background color is black, set the Background Contents to Background Color.

- Click on OK to create the new image. The canvas title will indicate the color mode and bit size.

- Paint your terrain or image using grayscale colors.
- Save the image, selecting None for PNG Options and clicking on OK.
