Creating a Water Plane

Water Planes are created just a bit higher than ground level. That way, if you have already created ground and terrains, you can easily place a water plane into your scene and immediately see the terrains peeking out from the water.

To create a Water Plane, click the Water Plane tool in the Create palette:

OR

Left-click-hold on the Water Plane tool and choose Surface from the menu:

Once the plane appears in your scene you can edit it like any other object.

Water Planes are created with a water texture randomly chosen from the Waters & Liquids Preset Materials Library. You can change this material by selecting a different preset or creating a new material.

To create a Water Slab, press Opt/Alt+click Water Plane tool

OR

Left-click-hold on the Water Plane tool and choose Volume from the menu:

The water slab will be created with just the top layer showing above the Ground plane:

The slab depth can be modified by clicking on the button and changing the Y-size from the default 20.48 BU:

Here the Y-size has been changed to 50 BU:
