Copy Matrix

The Copy Matrix command copies an object(s) position, rotation, and size. The copied Matrix can then be copied on to another object using the Paste Matrix command to override the object's own position, rotation, and size.

This function is especially useful when using the DAZ|Studio link to import figures and need to modify an item. Since Bryce literally deletes the object and replaces it, the object is loaded into Bryce at the default size ... or very tiny. Before going back into DS, copy the matrix of the object, then when you come back into Bryce, paste the matrix to restore it to the size, position, and rotation the previous version was at.

One caveat though, if you change the pose or clothing on the figure, you won't get exactly the same thing as before because the matrix of the new object is different than the new one. In this case, it is better to use the 3D Transformation and size the object by a percentage each time.

To Copy an object's Matrix:

  1. Select an object or group.
  2. Choose Edit > Copy Matrix from the menu or press Alt+C.
