Mac Color Pickers

The Mac OS Color Pickers are accessed from Bryce by pressing Ctrl+Opt and clicking any color dot or swatch.

This opens the Colors dialog with five Pickers:

• Color Wheel
• Color Sliders
• Color Palettes
• Image Palettes
• Crayons.

Besides the standard OS controls, each Picker has several things in common. At the top is a long color bar which is the current picked color. The Magnifying Glass icon next to it lets you select a magnified color from anywhere on the current screen. At the bottom are the preset boxes which are loaded by click dragging the top color bar to any preset box. You can expand/collapse the presets by dragging the small center dot.

• To use the Color Wheel, click on the color you want and adjust the brightness of the color from the right hand slider.
  
  
• The Color Slider Picker lets you select a color via four different color schemes: Gray Scale, RGB, CYMK or HSB, accessed from the popup menu. Values can be set by adjusting the sliders or by typing in the numeric values.
  
  
• The Color Palettes Pickers allows a color to be picked from a number of different preset "swatch" palettes. These include the System and Web Safe color lists. User Color lists can be created by selecting New from the popup and dragging colors into the main window. There are also options for renaming and removing colors and lists.
  
  
• Most of the time the Image Palette is used to display a Spectrum image which can be clicked on to select a color. A user image can also be loaded from the bottom popup and stored permanently in the picker. The new image can be selected from the top popup.
  
  
• The Crayon Picker shows 64 standard Crayon colors. Clicking on one selects the color and displays the Crayon color name at the top.
