Revolve New / Add - To Closest and To Reference

Revolve a closed sketch / composite curve to either the closest face, or to a chosen reference face.

Note: To Closest is only available for Add Revolve.

Important: Objects created by New / Revolve will be considered independent objects. Those created by Add / Revolve will be added to the active object. (If only one object exists in the document it is automatically active unless manually deactivated.) See Activate / Deactivate and Activating Objects.

Add Revolve - To Closest

Required Step 1

Select a closed 2D composite curve or sketch.

Notes:

Required Step 2

Select the axis of revolution. This axis can be an edge, datum axis, or line.

Required Step 3

Choose One Side if you want to revolve to the closest face on one side of the contour. You can flip the direction by clicking on the arrow.

Toggle One Side to Both Sides to revolve to the closest faces in both directions.

New Revolve - To Reference

Required Step 1

To revolve the contour to a specific face or datum plane, pick a closed 2D composite curve or sketch.

Required Step 2

Pick the axis of revolution. This axis can be an edge, datum axis, or line.

Required Step 3

Pick the required face and click the As Plane/As Object toggle button to revolve the contour/face till the plane or till the object as shown below. You can flip the direction by clicking on the arrow.

Press exit when finished. Press OK or Apply in the Feature Guide to complete the function.

When completed, the Revolve feature will appear in the Feature Tree as follows:
