Select the object (open or closed) to be divided by an open object. In this case, the blue face is selected. Press exit.

Select the dividing tool, in this case the open yellow cylinder.

In order to view the result, select the Filter Objects icon, pick the yellow cylinder (dividing object), and select the Hide icon to view how the object was divided.
