Mill horizontal and/or vertical areas (divided by a slope angle) using different machining technologies.

Illustration of Surface Milling horizontal areas using spiral technology and vertical areas using layers technology:

How to create this procedure: (see Creating a Procedure and Procedure Guide for general explanation.)

  1. For Technology, choose Surface Milling as the main selection, and Finish Mill By Limit Angle as the subselection.

  2. Choose the appropriate cutter.

Note: The Minimum Clear Length calculation is available for this function.

  1. Define the part surfaces, check surfaces and, only if necessary, define the boundary area.

Notes:

  1. Define the following Motion Parameters:

Note: Within the Stock & Holder Tracking parameters, you can define whether remaining stock should be considered. Remaining stock is used to control the approach and retract motions and the air motion height. Considering the remaining stock will cause the procedure to be suspended if there are changes in one of the previous procedures.

  1. Define the Machine Parameters.

  2. When finished, you can choose from the following Procedure Options:

(The options Save & Close and Save & Calculate are also available on the Procedure Guide.)
