Create finishing tool paths on multiple surfaces for 3-axis machining.

This procedure is very similar to 5X Aerospace, however, with fewer options. The only machining strategy available at the Tool Trajectory stage under the Finish tab, is Morph Between 2 Curves.

This procedure is only available when Cimatron E is run with the flag: -Advanced_Morph.

Note: Use of a Slot Mill and Lollipop type cutter in the Morph Between 2 Curves procedure, requires a license. Please contact your Cimatron Provider.

How to create this procedure: (see Creating a Procedure and Procedure Guide for general explanation.)

Note: Prior to operating the Morph Between 2 Curves 3X procedure, make sure that the normals of selected faces are in the same direction.

  1. For Technology, choose Flow Line as the main selection, and Morph Between 2 Curves 3X as the subselection. The number of axes to be used is defined in the Tool Trajectory dialog under the Tool Axis Control tab.

  2. Choose the appropriate cutter.

  1. Define the following Motion Parameters:

Note: Update Remaining Stock is only available when using a 3 axis procedure with a cutter that is not a Slot Mill or Lollipop. In all other cases, no parameters are displayed.

  1. Define the required geometry. Appropriate geometry sets are displayed in the Geometry branch, depending on the machining strategy selected in the Tool Trajectory dialog under the Finish tab. Geometry can be selected either from the Tool Trajectory dialog or from the Geometry branch.

  2. Define the Machine Parameters.

  3. When finished, you can choose from the following Procedure Options:

(The options Save & Close and Save & Calculate are also available on the Procedure Guide.)
