Dividing Procedures by Cutter

If a procedure contains multiple cutters, this procedure can be divided into a number of separate procedures, each of which uses only one cutter.

A procedure may have multiple cutters in the following circumstances:

If they are defined within the procedure, by the user.

If they are defined using the Optimizer, by the system.

Defined within the Procedure

Check the Use Multiple Cutters parameter, under Cutters & Holders within the Procedure. The Use Multiple Cutters parameter is displayed in the following functions: Finish, Cleanup and Pencil.

In the example below, the Process Manager shows a procedure containing 3 cutters.

This procedure can be divided into separate procedures, each of which uses only one cutter. From the main menu, select Edit / Divide Procedure by Cutter. The resultant procedures are listed in the Process Manager with their respective cutters.

(The status flag indicates that the procedure was manually edited using the Motions Editor. When dividing the procedure, the system uses the Motions Editor function.)

Note: The first of the 3 procedures is still defined as having multiple cutters; even though it actually has only one cutter. This is to preserve the original setting of the procedure so that it can be re-run in the future.

Defined within the Optimizer

When using Holder Gouge Checking in the Optimizer, two options (Auto Search and Cutter Sequence) may cause the resultant procedure to use more than one cutter. If this occurs, you will see Multi Cutters listed for the cutter in the Process Manager.

This procedure can be divided into separate procedures, each of which uses only one cutter. From the main menu, select Edit / Divide Procedure by Cutter. The resultant procedures will be listed in the Process Manager with their respective cutters.

(The status flag indicates that the procedure has been manually edited using the Motions Editor, and contains optimization conditions. When dividing the procedure, the system uses the Motions Editor function.)

In the example shown above, Cutter B10_001 is a replacement cutter created by using the Auto Search option. You can view the properties of this new cutter by opening the Cutters & Holders dialog.
