The clearance area type is a sphere and should enclose your drive surface geometry completely. So no drive surface parts are outside of the sphere. Since you can’t retract to full 360° directions you don’t need the full sphere. Usually a half sphere shape located above your drive surface is used.
Here you can see 4 drive surfaces machined parallel. With gaps along cuts the tool retracts to the clearance area. Many retractions show you the sphere shape.
