Polyline solids are polyline shaped 3D objects with a specified thickness. They can be oriented either horizontally or vertically and are useful for creating custom details anywhere in your 3D model.

Creating Polyline Solids

A horizontal polyline solid can be created in floor plan view or any 3D view by selecting Build> Primitive> Polyline Solid , then clicking and dragging to draw a rectangle.

A vertical polyline solid can be created in a cross section/elevation view by selecting Build> Primitive> Polyline Solid , then clicking and dragging to draw a rectangle. The polyline solid is placed in front of any objects visble in the view. If no objects are behind, the polyline solid is placed one foot in front of the camera.

Polyline solids can be edited the way other closed polyline-based objects are. See "Editing Closed-Polyline Based Objects".

Converting CAD Polylines

A closed CAD polyline can be converted into a polyline solid in floor plan and cross section/elevation views using the Convert Polyline edit button. See "Convert Polyline".

Convert to Solid

You can convert a polyline solid to a primitive in order to build complex solid structures. Select the polyline solid you want to convert and click Convert to Solid on the edit toolbar.
