The Layer tab is found in the specification dialogs for many different objects. Here you can specify on what layer the prgram uses to display the selected object.

Note: In some specification dialogs, layer information is located on the Line Style tab rather than the Layer tab.

Check Default to place the selected object on the default layer for that object type.
Click the drop down list to select from all layers. Any object can be placed on any layer.
Click Define to open the Layer Display Options dialog and select, modify, or add a new layer. See "Layer Display Options Dialog".
