Texture Paths
CINEMA 4D searches for texture files and animation files in the following locations:
- In the same folder as the scene
- In the Tex folder within the scene’s folder
- In the Tex folder within the CINEMA 4D folder
- If a given bitmap was saved to an absolute path, CINEMA 4D will, in this case, only search within this path, and will ignore all other defined search paths.
- If textures from CINEMA 4D libraries are used, the corresponding path can be set directly to this directory and the texture(s) will only be searched for here.
- And, finally, in any path entered into this field.
If a texture is not in any of these folders, add the texture’s folder to this dialog.
You can specify up to ten paths. Each is searched recursively, i.e. sub-folders are searched too. Type the path name directly into a text box. If a texture still cannot be located after searching all the texture paths, CINEMA 4D reports a texture error.
Alternatively, you can click on the file selection button at the right.
Make sure not to assign CD-Rom or network paths. Searching such paths generally takes a long time to complete. Only when it has been determined that the texture cannot be located will an error message appear.
