Availability Database Link File
(Menu) : Tools » Database Connection...

Description This command is used to run the Database Connection dialog - providing an interface from which you can define the connection to an external database.

Use After launching the command, the Database Connection dialog will appear. Use the dialog to determine the source of the connection to the database - either through the use of a Data Link File (*.udl), or through the use of a connection string.

If you choose the Use Data Link File option, you can press the Browse button to open the Select Data Link File dialog, from where you can navigate to and open, the required file.

If you choose the Use Connection String option, the Build button becomes available. Clicking this will open the Data Link Properties dialog, which you can use to create the required connection string to the external database that contains your component parameter information.

Notes Click the Help button in the tabs of the Data Link Properties dialog, to access the associated Microsoft Data Link Help.
