Description This command is used to reset the physical FPGA device that currently has focus in the Hard Devices chain. Resetting an FPGA device simply clears the device of any previously downloaded design, making it available for subsequent reprogramming with a modified or different design.
Use This command is only available when the Devices view is configured to be 'Live'. To enter this mode, ensure that the Live option in the Devices view is enabled.
Also, ensure that the FPGA device that you wish to reset currently has the focus in the Hard Devices chain of the view. A device on the chain is given the focus simply by clicking on its corresponding icon in the chain.
After launching the command, the currently focused physical FPGA device will be reset, with the following changes to the Devices view confirming the reset process has taken place:
In the Hard Devices chain, the status text underneath the device's icon will change from "(Programmed)" to "(Reset)".
In the Process Flow for the FPGA device, the status icon for the Program FPGA stage will change from green to red.
In the Soft Devices chain, all detected Nexus-enabled devices in the current FPGA project will have the status "Missing".
Notes If the focused FPGA device is not currently programmed (i.e. an FPGA programming file has not been downloaded or the device has already been reset) using this command will have no effect.
This command can be used at any stage, irrespective of the state (running or paused) of any microcontroller cores that may be present in the design currently programmed into the device. If embedded software in a microcontroller is currently being debugged when the reset command is used, an information dialog will appear alerting you to the fact that the target processor could not be found and that the debug session will be terminated.
