FPGA Design

FPGAs and programmable devices in general are becoming an increasingly important in a wide variety of electronic designs. Increasing capacities and performance combined with falling device prices have seen FPGAs find their way into an ever-increasing range of products and applications.

While a range of FPGA vendor-specific design solutions exist for programmable devices, the increasing use of FPGAs means design portability and the freedom to move designs between devices from different vendors are becoming increasingly important considerations. Also, the size and price of the latest generation of FPGA devices makes them a viable platform for the implementation of entire embedded systems. This requires the integration of FPGA hardware development with embedded software development, and a scalable system-based approach to FPGA design.
