(Menu) : Edit » Step/Repeat » Modify
Description This command is used to modify the characteristics of a selected Step & Repeat array in the current document.
Use After launching the command, the cursor will change to a square and you will be prompted to select the particular Step & Repeat array that you want to modify. Simply position the cursor over any object included as part of the array selection in the original frame of the array and click - the Modify Step_Repeat dialog appears.
Use the dialog to modify the number of rows and columns in the array and also the spacing for the array, using one of two methods: Distance or Gap.
The Distance method allows you to specify the spacing between rows and columns, in relation to the size of the image (i.e. the selection of objects). When you specify a value in a Distance field, you need to add the required spacing to the value in the Image Size field and enter this combined value as the distance. For example, if the image size is 0.5 in and you require a 200 mil spacing, you would need to enter 0.7 in the corresponding Distance field.
The Gap method allows you to specify the direct spacing between rows and columns and therefore not dependent on the image size. For example, if you require a 200 mil spacing, you would need to enter 0.2 in the corresponding Gap field.
Click the Show Preview button to expand the dialog to display the array preview window, where you can view how the array will look when placed. The preview will update as you make changes to the array settings.
After making modifications as required, click OK - the Step & Repeat array will be changed in accordance with the modifications specified.
Continue selecting and modifying further Step & Repeat arrays or right-click or press ESC to exit.
Notes Panelization and Arrays allow embedded step and repeat codes to reduce the size of files that contain the same information multiple times. If a session includes Step and Repeat codes, only the original image will be fully displayed in the main design window, all other projected copies appear as blank frames.
