Description This command is used to run the Selection Memory dialog, from where you can control all aspects of the selection memory feature.

Use After launching the command, the Selection Memory dialog will appear. The dialog basically contains the controls necessary for manipulating each of the eight available selection memory locations. For each location, the controls - in order from left to right - are as follows:

STO n button - store the current selection in the main design window, in the memory location. Holding the SHIFT key down while pressing this button will add the selection to the existing stored selection.

Clear button - clear the content of the memory location.

Apply button - apply filtering based on the objects included in the stored selection. The visual result of the filtering is determined by the display options at the bottom of the dialog.

RCL n button - select the objects in the main design window that are part of the currently stored selection in the memory location. Any objects that are already selected in the design and that are not part of the stored selection, will become deselected. Holding the SHIFT key down while pressing this button will select the stored objects in addition to those objects already selected in the design.

The field to the right of the RCL n button, provides a content summary for the memory location. Selection content is summarized in terms of quantity of specific object (if the selection contains objects of a single type) or total number of objects (if the selected objects are of differing type).

The Lock option enables you to secure the content of the memory location. With this option enabled, you cannot store further selections to or clear the content of, the memory location.

The options at the bottom of the dialog control the visual result of the applied filtering on the document in the main design window, when using the Apply button:

Mask - the filtered objects will appear fully visible in the main design window, with all other objects becoming dimmed. With masking applied, all objects not under the filter scope will be unavailable for selection/editing.

Select - the filtered objects will be selected in the workspace.

Zoom - the filtered objects will be zoomed and centered in the main design window.

Any combination of these options can be enabled. For example, you might want to have all filtered objects zoomed, centered and selected in the main design window, whilst applying masking to take away the clutter of other design objects.

Clear Existing - enables you to extend an existing filter, essentially refining the filter further by applying a new filter in addition to the existing one. To do this, make sure this option is disabled. If it is enabled (default) the existing filter will be cleared before applying the new one.

The Clear button at the bottom right corner of the dialog clears the current filtering altogether.

The drop-down field at the bottom left of the dialog allows you to specify whether the feature should apply to only the current document, or to all open documents.

Notes Using the STO n button again, with a different selection in the main design window, will overwrite the existing stored selection, unless you have purposefully enabled the Lock option for the associated memory location.

The main commands of the selection memory feature have been given the following keyboard shortcut assignments:

CTRL+N - store current selection in memory location N.

ALT+N - recall selection from memory location N.

SHIFT+N - add current selection to selection already stored in memory location N.

SHIFT+ALT+N - recall selection from memory location N and add it to current selection in workspace.

SHIFT+CTRL+N - apply filtering based on selection set in memory location N.
