Schematic Library Document
(Menu) : Tools » Move Component...
Description This command is used to move a component from the current library document to any other open library document.
Use First ensure that the component that you wish to move is selected in the Components list of the SCH Library panel (and is therefore the active component in the main design window).
After launching the command, the Destination Library dialog will appear. This dialog lists all of the currently open or hidden schematic library documents (not including the active document).
Select the document to which you want to move the component. After clicking OK, the component will be moved to the destination library.
A confirmation dialog will appear asking whether you wish to delete the component from the original (active) library document. If you choose to delete, the component will be removed from the original library document and the next component in the Components list will become the active component.
Notes All open libraries (except the current library) will be listed in the Destination Library dialog, regardless of whether they are free documents, or part of the current or any other open project.
You can also move library components using the SCH Library panel. Simply select the component(s) in the Components list of the panel using the standard selection keys (Click, SHIFT+Click and CTRL+Click). Once the component(s) have been selected, right-click to pop-up a floating menu and choose Cut - a copy of the component(s) will be placed on the Schematic Editor's clipboard.
A confirmation dialog will appear asking whether you wish to delete the component(s) from the original (current) library document. If you choose to delete, the component(s) will be removed from the original library document. Change to the target library, right-click in the Components list of the SCH Library panel and choose Paste to add them to the list.
When pasting more than one instance of a copied component into a library, using the direct cut/paste method in the panel, the component will be duplicated but the components will not have the same name. Instead, each copy will have an extension. For example, if the original component is called CAP, then the first copy will be called CAP_1, the second CAP_2, etc.
