Description This command is used to copy a component from the current library document to any other open library document.

Use First ensure that the component that you wish to copy is selected in the Components list of the SCH Library panel (and is therefore the active component in the main design window).

After launching the command, the Destination Library dialog will appear. This dialog lists all of the currently open schematic library documents.

Select the document to which you want to copy the component. After clicking OK, a copy of the component will be placed in the destination library.

Notes All open libraries will be listed in the Destination Library dialog, regardless of whether they are free documents, or part of the current or any other open project.

If you choose the current library in the Destination Library dialog, the component will be duplicated and two components with the same name will exist in the library. You can rename the duplicated component as required. Copying a component to the same library is useful when you want to create a new component and its graphical representation is similar to that of an existing component, with only minor modifications required.

You can also copy library components using the SCH Library panel. Simply select the component(s) in the Components list of the panel using the standard Windows selection keys (Click, SHIFT+Click and CTRL+Click). Once the components have been selected, right-click to pop-up a floating menu and choose Copy. Change to the target library, right-click in the Components list of the SCH Library panel and choose Paste to add them to the list.

When pasting into the same library or pasting more than one instance of a copied component into a different library, using the direct copy/paste method in the panel, the component will be duplicated but the components will not have the same name. Instead, each copy will have an extension. For example, if the original component is called CAP, then the first copy will be called CAP_1, the second CAP_2, etc.
