You can use the Close Catalog tool to close the current catalog in the catalog panel or the Catalog Manager dialog. Note that this leaves the catalog window blank until you open another catalog.
To close the catalog in the catalog panel:
Select File > Catalogs > Close Catalog.
To close a catalog in the Catalog Manager:
Select File > Close Catalog.
